A Strasburg man has been arrested in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on charges of drug possession, drug use and carrying of a firearm without a license.
Devron Anthony Strother, 23, is being held at the Blair County Prison in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania. He was arraigned on Saturday, with bail set at 10% of $35,000, and is due in the Blair County Magisterial District Court for a hearing at 9 a.m. Thursday.
Strother was arrested at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday after being found passed out in his car, the Altoona Mirror reported on Tuesday.
Altoona police responded to the 900 block of Second Avenue Alley “and allegedly found Strother passed out behind the wheel with marijuana on his lap and a pipe in his hand,” the newspaper reported.
A female was also reported passed out in the car.
“When Strother was asked to step out of the vehicle, he was asked if he had an[y] weapons or sharp objects on him,” the Altoona Mirror reported. “Strother allegedly admitted he had a gun.”
Police allegedly found a Ruger .380 handgun in Strother’s pocket, the newspaper reported. The gun was not loaded.
Police reported finding two magazines, “one loaded with seven rounds and the other loaded with five rounds,” in Strother’s Nissan sedan. “Two boxes of ammunition were also found in the glove box.”
Strother is not licensed to carry a gun, the Mirror reported.
Officers also allegedly found a packet of suspected heroin, a counterfeit $100 bill containing methamphetamine in the center console, and another counterfeit $100 bill rolled up with white powder residue on it.
Strother is charged with use and possession of drug paraphernalia, carrying marijuana in a small amount for personal use, possession of a controlled substance that wasn’t prescribed to him, and carrying of a firearm without a license.
The arresting officer was Derrick M. Tardive, of the Altoona Police Department, according to court information. A call to the department requesting information was not returned on Tuesday.
