A 30-year-old Strasburg man died as a result of his injuries in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 81 on Monday, according to Virginia State Police Sgt. Brent Coffey.
Jacob W. Crowder suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash that occurred at 12:35 p.m. at the 295-mile marker, Coffey stated.
Crowder was driving a 2008 Ford Fusion that entered I-81 in the wrong direction and collided head-on with a northbound 2008 Toyota Tacoma, Coffey stated. The Toyota ran off the right side of the interstate and collided with a guardrail as a result of the impact.
Crowder was transported to Shenandoah Memorial Hospital for treatment and later succumbed to his injuries, Coffey stated. Crowder was wearing a seatbelt.
A 40-year-old Winchester man was driving the Toyota and suffered serious, non-life-threatening injuries in the crash, Coffey stated. The man was transported to Winchester Medical Center. He was wearing a seatbelt.
