A 14-year-old girl reported missing from Strasburg on Tuesday morning was found OK at a friend's house later that day.

Strasburg Police Chief Wayne Sager said by phone that his department received a tip on where she was and found her within a quarter-mile radius of her home around 6 p.m.

The disappearance stemmed from a family dispute, Sager believed. A Code Red notification of her disappearance was sent out through the Shenandoah County communications center before 1 p.m. because of the girl’s health and her need for medication, Sager said.

Personnel from the Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office as well as two bloodhounds from the Warren County Sheriff’s Office helped with the search, Sager said. Help from Virginia State Police was beginning to be coordinated, he said.

Sager thanked those agencies for their assistance and also thanked the emergency dispatch center for fielding calls during her disappearance.
