We welcome letters and opinion essays (commentary) that are well written, thoughtful, and thought-provoking on a variety of topics from readers living in our print circulation area.
We accept only original content that has been written specifically for our paper. We also do not accept form letters written from a template.
LettersLetters must be 350 or fewer words. They must not include Web addresses, phone numbers or addresses, or material pulled from another source without attribution.
Letters must also not contain too much personal information, personal attacks, allegations, hate language, insinuations, potentially libelous statements and statements that are not factual.
We do not accept letters of direct endorsement for businesses or candidates. We also do not accept letters that include solicitations of donations.
Commentaries are well-written essays and must not be longer than 750 words. Please include a color photo (mugshot) and a brief one or two sentence bio of yourself.
VerificationAll letters must include your address and your phone number so that we can contact you to verify your submission.
We will only contact you if we plan to run your submission. There is no guarantee that submissions will be accepted. We accept two submissions per writer in a 30-day period.
