Letters must be 200 or fewer words and must be addressed to the editor.
Commentaries are essays that are 400-500 words. Include a color head shot and one sentence describing who you are and where you live.
We do not accept submissions that contain too much personal information, name-calling, attacks on other people and groups, allegations, insinuations, hate language, potentially libelous statements or statements that are not factual, direct endorsements (of people, businesses or products), solicitations for donations, web addresses, phone numbers, addresses, or material pulled from another source without attribution.
Election-related letters or commentaries for the Nov. 3 election must be received no later than 5 p.m. Oct. 27. Please follow the guidelines above - specifically no name-calling or direct endorsements (do not write "vote for this person" or "I endorse" or "I support this person").
All submissions will be edited and must be directed to the editor and not other people, and be written exclusively for the Northern Virginia Daily by readers within our print circulation area. We do not accept form letters.
We accept two submissions per writer per month.
We will contact you only if we accept your submission.
All submissions must include your address and a phone number for verification.
