FRONT ROYAL – A Strasburg man will be extradited from the Rappahannock-Shenandoah-Warren Regional Jail to West Virginia, where he is wanted as a suspect in a fatal hit-and-run crash.

Kenneth Jerome Lee, 45, of Pendleton Lane, was arrested Jan. 21 by Warren County Sheriff’s Office deputies and charged on counts of driving under the influence and refusing a blood or breath test.

A Sheriff’s Office news release states that Lee was initially pulled over after deputies noticed extensive damage to his SUV that included broken windows and a tail light. While attempting to pull him over, the release states, the vehicle failed to maintain its lane.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office in West Virginia alerted local authorities that Lee was a suspect in a hit-and-run crash in West Virginia earlier that day. A Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office news release states that incident involved an SUV hitting and killing William Snyder, of Parkville, Maryland, as he checked his tractor-trailer on the side of the road near Halltown, West Virginia.

Lee waived his rights to an extradition hearing Wednesday in Warren County General District Court, signing a document stating he voluntarily consents to the extradition.

According to previous reports, police were able to match the make, model and license number of the SUV to Lee’s vehicle based on witnesses' photographs.

According to the Virginia Department of Corrections website, Lee remained at the regional jail as of Thursday afternoon. He will return to Warren County General District Court on Sept. 18 to face his local charges.
