Bryce Metz stands under a shelter that he is working on in Middletown's town park. The 10- by-10-foot shelter, an Eagle Scout project, is almost done.

A teen-ager's Eagle Scout project will benefit visitors to Middletown’s town park.

Bryce Metz, 16, is working on a shelter big enough - 10-by-10 feet – to shade a picnic table.

“I am very close to getting it done,” Metz said, adding he is proud of what he is doing.

The only thing left to be done is for the concrete floor to be poured and set, he said.

Metz joined the Cub Scouts in first grade and the Boy Scouts in the sixth grade.

He has, with the help of his father Tim Metz, raised money and material donations for the project. Businesses, residents and family have volunteered to help build the shelter.

“I had to go to stores to ask for donations and to get volunteers to help,” Metz said.
