The following are some of the area events that will be held this weekend:

Comedy

Rouss Center for the Arts will present two weekend performances of the comedy farce "Virgil Wins the Lottery" at 7 p.m. today through Sunday and May 10-12 at 9357 N. Congress St., New Market.

Coffee and Cars

Curtain Call Coffeehouse Cafe and MJ Hometown Partnership will host Coffee and Cars starting at 10 a.m. each Saturday through September at 5966 Main St., Mount Jackson. Information: 540-333-2897.

Open market

The Open Market, sponsored by the New Market Chamber of Commerce Merchants Committee, will open for the season from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the Sun Trust Bank parking lot.

Kernstown Battlefield

Kernstown Battlefield will open for the season from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday featuring tours of the battlefield, 1854 Pritchard House, Museum and Artillery Annex at 610 Battle Park Drive, Winchester.

Mike Cannane will give battlefield tours at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday starting at the Visitors’ Center. Information: 757-593-8227 or visit www.kernstownbattle.org.

Burwell-Morgan Mill

The Burwell-Morgan Mill in Millwood will showcase over 300 artists displaying more than 1,000 pieces of art from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for seniors and free ages 12 and younger. Information: 540-837-1799 or www.burwellmorganmill.org.

Sky Meadows

Sky Meadows State Park in Delaplane will offer the following activities this weekend:

• Saturday: 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Explorer Outpost on the Boston Mill Road Trail; 11 a.m.-3 p.m., farm market; noon-3 p.m., Settle's Kettle, Farmer's Forge and kitchen garden, cooking demonstrations; 8-11 p.m., Astronomy for Everyone, junior astronomy program for ages 5-12, ambassadors of NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab will talk about the latest in space research, no admission after 9 p.m..

• Sunday: 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Explorer Outpost on the Boston Mill Road Trail.
