New Market continued its hot streak on Saturday night.
The Shockers have won seven of their last eight games. They knocked off Bridgewater with an 8-1 home victory in Rockingham County Baseball League action.
Sherando and Shenandoah University graduate Darrell Thompson threw a complete game, allowing just three hits and one earned run. Thompson struck out 13 with no walks in the victory. He faced only 31 batters and threw 116 pitches, 86 of which were strikes.
Offensively, the Shockers had 11 hits. Grant Thompson (Shenandoah University) went 4-for-4 with a homer, three runs scored an an RBI. Calvin Pastel (Shenandoah University) went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. Matt House (Shenandoah University) went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored and Chandler Ballenger (Alderson Broddous University) was 1-for-1 with a home run, two RBIs and a run scored for the Shockers.
New Market (9-4) is in second place in the league, one game behind first-place Broadway.
The Shockers play at Stuarts Draft tonight, at Montezuma on Tuesday and at Elkton on Wednesday. The regular season ends on July 28.
