Tractor Trailer Crash Closes Highway
Justin Fisher, left, and Hunter Larsen, right, both heavy wrecker operators for Clems Garage in Stephens City, work together to slide this overturned tractor-trailer off the roadway following a single vehicle crash on John Marshall Highway near Star Tannery around 8 a.m. Friday morning. The driver, Luther Underwood of Clinton, North Carolina, said he was eastbound hauling 38,000 pounds of firewood when his brakes started smoking coming down a hill and he then said he lost control on a curve and overturned west of South Pifer Road. Crews from Clems Garage spent the morning moving the contents into a another vehicle. The roadway was shutdown for several hours for the clean-up.
