A pickup truck ran into Shaffer’s Barbecue and Catering in Woodstock on Thursday, causing minimal damage and no injuries, according to restaurant owner George Shaffer.

Shaffer said over the phone that the driver of the pickup truck was coming to eat at the restaurant at 913 S. Main St., and hit the gas instead of the brakes in the parking lot at about 1:40 p.m. Shaffer said the truck hit the front glass door and part of the wall.

He said the incident occurred after the lunch rush and no one was in that area of the restaurant.

Within about an hour, Shaffer said the building inspector had already declared the structure as safe and “we’ve nailed the door shut.” The restaurant will be able to remain open.

Although the crash was surprising, he said it was not the first such incident. In the past 18 years, he said the restaurant has been hit by vehicles four times.
