Warren County law enforcement officials have arrested and charged two Christendom College students as a result of an arson investigation at the college.

Fire Marshal Gerry Maiatico identified the students in a news release Sunday as Christopher Francis Patrick

Shanahan, 20, and Ryan Joseph Farrell, 23, both of Pennsylvania.

Maiatico said each defendant was charged with six counts stemming from a fire in a second floor bathroom of

a three-story dormitory that was reported at 5:40 a.m. Thursday. Maiatico said building occupants extinguished the fire before firefighters arrived at the scene.

Maiatico said the Fire Marshal's Office subsequently concluded that the fire was the result of arson.

A joint investigation by the Fire Marshal's Office and the Sheriff's Office led to the arrests of Shanahan and

Farrell. Each has been charged with with six counts, including arson and related charges such as entering someone else's property for the purpose of damaging it; damaging property; petit larceny and disorderly conduct.

Both defendants are being held without bond at the Rappahannock-Shenandoah-Warren-Regional Jail.

Anyone with information about the case

is asked to contact Maiatico at 636-3830 or Sheriff's Office Investigator Brad Pugh at 635-7100.
