The Warren County School Board this week approved a contract to renovate A.S. Rhodes Elementary School.
The total cost of the renovations will be $195,000. The scope of the renovations will include new windows, new restrooms, new lighting and electrical upgrades.
OWPR Architects, of Blacksburg, will be working on the plan for the school’s renovations. The county School Board met with two other architectural firms in the last few weeks, but the board settled on OWPR Architects.
“We’re excited about the project and look forward to the improvements to our school,” said Lori Layman, principal of A.S. Rhodes Elementary School.
Superintendent for Warren County schools Greg Drescher said that work on the school is scheduled to begin in summer 2019 and will be completed by the end of summer 2020.
“One of the School Board’s priorities is that all learning spaces are healthy, safe and conducive to learning,” he said. “Renovating our schools as they need it is part of ensuring all of our students and staff have great places to work and learn.”
