A Winchester man has been arrested in connection with a suspected overdose, according to Front Royal police.

Nathaniel E. Green III, 42, is charged with possession of a firearm while being a felon and possession of a controlled substance.

He was arrested after Front Royal police and Warren County EMS personnel responded Saturday to the Hampton Inn, 9800 Winchester Road, for a report of an unresponsive 38-year-old woman, a news release states.

Despite efforts from police and EMS personnel, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her death is being suspected as an overdose, but it is unclear from what until lab results come back from the Medical Examiner’s Office, Capt. Crystal Cline states by email.

Green, the 911 caller, was identified as the woman’s husband. He remained at the scene, the release states. Three handguns, multiple rounds of ammunition and Green’s identification cards were received at the scene, the release states.

A pink powder and two capsules with white power, both suspected to be narcotics, were also recovered, the release states.

Green was discovered to be a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing firearms, the release continues. He was arrested without incident and transported to Rappahannock-Shenandoah-Warren Regional Jail, where he is being held without bond. He is due in Warren County General District Court at 10 a.m. March 2.
