Transparency, accountability and participation in local government are all good things. So why not broadcast Shenandoah County Board of Supervisors meetings?

Sure, there’s a cost, but it would allow more area residents to follow and understand issues, hold elected officials accountable for their actions and also may increase resident participation in local government — from voting in local elections to the desire to sit on committees or run for office.

We encourage the Shenandoah County Board of Supervisors — as well as the Shenandoah County School Board — to open up public meetings to everyone, not just to those who are able to attend the meetings in person. Don’t over analyze this. Come together and cast a unanimous vote for the public. Broadcast your meetings.
