Homeless children and their families will be getting a much needed helping hand when the new Family Promise Center opens in Woodstock this January.

Thirteen area churches have come together to launch the national Family Promise program in Shenandoah County. They will be offering shelter, food and support to families with children on a rotating basis.  The center will be where these families in need will receive help on budgeting and job seeking and other counseling. More than a dozen other area churches are also supporting the effort.

It’s taken a lot of work by so many people and businesses through their donations and volunteer efforts to launch this program.  The outpouring of support is truly wonderful.

It’s safe to say that hundreds of county residents have been or will be involved in this project going forward.  Those who saw a need and worked relentlessly to make it a reality are true leaders of our community.  Let us speak for Shenandoah County citizens and offer a sincere thank you to all involved in this project.
