The following are some of the area recreational events that are being held:
The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s will be held 9 a.m. Saturday at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley, 901 Amherst St., Winchester.
The Kiwanis Club of Strasburg will hold a Super Hero 5K run/walk at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Mennonite Church of Strasburg, 239 High St.
Registration opens at 8 a.m.
The Kernstown Battlefield half marathon will be held Nov. 4 at 8 a.m. at 610 Battle Park Drive, Winchester.
For those not up to doing all of the 13.1 miles on their own, a two- or four-person relay team can be formed.
Registration is $85 or $110 for a two-person or four-person 10K or 5K relay team.
Full moon walk
The state arboretum at Blandy Farm in Boyce will hold a full moon walk from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 5.
Registration, which is required, is $12 or $10 for FOSA members. Information: 540-837-1758 or www.blandy.virginia.edu.
Girls on the Run Shenandoah Valley will sponsor a 5K race at 9 a.m. Nov. 18 at Jim Barnett Park in Winchester.
Registration is $5 to $20 through Nov. 1 and $5 to $25 from Nov. 2 to 18. Packets will be available at 7 a.m. the morning of the race at the Fireman’s Shelter.
